Blue Ocean Strategy to get your dream job

Here are some points that will make you think about your approach to getting your dream job:

  • Competition on job portals is too intense, and this significantly reduces your chances of getting a job.
  • You have a higher chance of securing a seat in an IIT or in the UPSC examination than getting a corporate job by applying only through portals.
  • Avoiding the mistakes that would increase your probability of getting a job.
  • Recruiters are paid to protect the interests of the organization where they work, and, hence, it is not wise to put all of your hopes on the recruiter to get you a job.
  • we will use the blue ocean strategy to effectively optimize your job search.

Blue Ocean Strategy is a business approach that aims to create new market spaces by identifying unfulfilled customer needs and developing innovative products or services to meet those needs. Rather than competing in crowded and competitive markets, this strategy encourages businesses to explore new, untapped markets and create demand for their unique offerings. The goal of the Blue Ocean Strategy is to create a new market space where competition is irrelevant and demand is created rather than fought over. Using blue ocean to get a job:

  1. 80% of jobs are filled through networking. Most of the best jobs lie in this unknown and untapped zone.
  2. you should feed the right quality and quantity of prospective leads into this funnel, after which good job opportunities would follow automatically.
  3. Know, Like, and Trust strategy to establish and maintain a good relationship with Talent Acquisition Managers. By effectively using the Know, Like, and Trust strategy, you can convert warm leads into potential job opportunities.

Networking Online and Offline

  • When networking offline, you should use LinkedIn to network with people effectively and rapidly.
  • Apply filters to find out people who might have worked in the same organisation where you are working currently and are currently working for the company where you want to work.
  • LinkedIn filters also allow you to filter out people with the same job profile or from the same knowledge domain as yours.
  • You can also use filters to target people from your desired work location.
  • To effectively network offline, you can use a platform called meetup*, which allows you to enroll in and join active groups related to your interest in your desired location.
  • Attend these meetups, engage with people, and exchange beneficial knowledge with them. Go out of your comfort zone and speak at various events to increase visibility. This will help you capture the full attention of the people present there and would also enable you to make meaningful connections with relevant people from the industry. Arrange an informational meeting with your desired connections and do not show desperation for a job.
